Kevin Erickson

Kevin Erickson started his law enforcement career back in 2005 when he joined the United States Army as a Military Police Soldier. Kevin performed a variety of law enforcement duties such as, Traffic Accident Investigator, OWI Enforcement, Team Leader in Afghanistan, and a Protective Services Agent. In 2015, Kevin got off Active Duty and was hired by the Sioux City Police Department in Sioux City, IA. During the police academy, Kevin graduated with his Master’s of Science in Forensic Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in May of 2015. In 2016, Kevin was trained in Critical Incident Stress Management both in Group and Individual Intervention. 

Kevin has been on the Peer Support Team since 2016. Since then, he has been an instrumental part of developing/revising current policies in reference to mental health for the Sioux City Police Department. He and another officer developed a training program for the SCPD in order to help First Responders identify signs and symptoms related to trauma, Post Traumatic Stress, and other mental health related issues. The program also helped First Responders identify if other First Responders are in need of assistance and how to talk to them. Kevin is also an active Peer for the West Coast Post Trauma Retreat. Kevin is currently assigned to the Youth Bureau as a Youth Investigator for the Sioux City Police Department. Kevin was elected to the Peer Support Foundation Board in September of 2019 as a Board Member. Kevin also still serves in the military and since then has transferred to the 185th ARW in Sioux City for the Iowa Air National Guard where he is currently assisting in developing policy, procedure, and establishing a Peer Support Team for the base.
