Awards of the Peer Support Foundation

Meritorious Recognition Award
-
A peer supporter or worthy individual may be nominated for consideration of the Foundation’s Meritorious Recognition Award.

Recognition if they meet one or more of the following criteria;
-
Has a record of career lifelong commitment to the Foundation, CISM, or peer support;
-
Has made an exceptional sacrifice of themselves personally, to help emergency responders after an especially horrific traumatic event;
-
Has established an innovative successful CISM program or procedure to benefit emergency responders;
-
Has a career of teaching or instructing peer support programs and concepts to others.

All Nominations should include the name, address, phone and email address of the person making the request and the person being nominated.

All nominations will be as factual as possible, list the reason(s) why the individual is being nominated, and list any other individuals who may be able to verify the facts of the nomination.

All nominations will be made directly to the Recognition Chairperson of the Foundation Board. The Chairperson will then verify the facts of the nomination to the best of their ability. The Recognition Chairperson will then bring the nomination to the attention of the board for a vote to confirm the recognition or not.

Whenever possible, a worthy individual will receive public recognition at the Foundation’s Annual Training Conference.

Peer Supporter of the Year
-
Oftentimes due to the confidential nature of peer support work, peers are rarely recognized. The Foundation believes it is important to recognize the work of peer supporters. It is the intention of the Foundation is to recognize an outstanding peer supporter each year.

In April of each year, nominations for peer supporter of the year are solicited. Listed below are the criteria for nominating an individual.

Anyone can nominate any person for the recognition
-
The person nominated must have worked in the capacity of a peer supporter during the time for which they were nominated.

The individual nominated must be a member of the Foundation.
-
The nomination should be submitted to the secretary or president of the Foundation.
-
The nomination should be submitted by June 1 of the year in which the person is being nominated.

The nomination submitted should include the following;
-
Name of the person nominated
-
The Department they work for
-
The email and phone number of the person nominated
-
The outstanding work that is being recognized
-
The name of the person nominating along with email and phone number
-

The selected peer supporter will receive their conference fees and hotel to that year’s conference paid. The peer supporter will also receive a plaque recognizing them as the Foundation’s Peer Supporter of the Year.
